What will Baby Redmond look like?

For 8 months now, Bo and I have curiously dreamed about this baby, wondering what he or she look like.  We did the 3-D ultrasound around 19 weeks, and while we did get a clear image of the back of the baby's head, we still have no images of his or her sweet face.  Well, I recently learned about this website that allows you to upload a photo of the baby's parents and it "morphs" the images so you can get an idea of what your offspring will look like.

Here are the two photos I uploaded:

... and this is what "morphed" from our images:

Please tell me that in the history of mankind, no child has ever had to live with eyebrows that size... or Donald Trump hair.  And we won't even discuss the serious TMJ issues this child will have with it's jaw!  Let's hope Mother Nature is kinder to our children than my computer!

This Wonderful World

Dear Baby Redmond,

You're not even here yet, and all of these people gathered last night to celebrate you.   All of these smiling faces are waiting excitedly for you to arrive and they can't wait to love you and teach you about this wonderful world.

I see trees of green, red roses too. I see them bloom for me and you. And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white. The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night. And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky. Are also on the faces of people going by. I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do. They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow. They'll learn much more than I'll never know. And I think to myself what a wonderful world. Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

Thank you to the Baileys, Bosdells, Smiths, Davises, and Childerses for such a memorable and oh-so-meaningful evening.  We love you guys and can't thank you enough for your support.

Missing Ankles...

Dear Ankles,

I woke up Tuesday morning and was shocked to see that you had disappeared.  Without warning!  I feel so abandoned, and to make matters worse, my calves are having to do extra work by stretching all the way down into my feet.  It looks quite pathetic - a person with no ankles.  If you come back, I'll ask no questions regarding your betrayal.  In fact, I may throw in a few pedicures to make you feel more comfortable.  What's that you say?  A foot massage from Bo every night may do the trick?   I see.  Well, you were having to carry around a lot of extra poundage lately, so I can understand if you got tired of being pushed away.  But I promise that if you can stick it out for another 1 1/2 months, you'll be back into those sexy shoes in no time.  Yes, the thin strappy ones, even.   And I'll be happy to have you back.

Love, Sara

Nesting

We've been busy!  Here are a few photos of the projects that have kept us preoccupied.

Bo painted the nursery,

and my mom filled in around the trimwork,

we recarpeted the upstairs,

and Rocky supervised,

Bo & my dad assembled  the travel system (with the aid of a couple of beers),

and Bo put together the crib - this is a super-generous gift from my in-laws!

and then we began working on the Ikea dresser (this took 6 hours and a cooler of beer, marriage counseling optional)

and I worked on the window treatments and a bird mobile (both still need some tweaking)

And here's our new favorite room in the house!

McCord or Perrin, we can't wait to show you your new home.  We look forward to reading you your favorite books, singing you to sleep, and telling you all about this big, beautiful world that has been waiting for you to arrive.

Baby Redmond Gets a New Car!

Below are some photos for our families so they can see our newest purchase.

It's hard to tell who's more excited - me or Bo!

Dad, believe it or not, I can still fit behind the steering wheel!

That's What Mommas Do

I think Baby Redmond is in a growth spurt right now, because he or she has been moving around quite frequently.  The other night Bo was tapping on my belly, and the baby tapped back!  This went on for a couple of minutes.  Not sure if this was a complete coinsidence, but I enjoyed experiencing the two bond in this way.  I am still in awe that my body can provide everything that this baby needs right now to grow and develop.  It has made me think about the protection that mothers provide - not just in utero, but throughout life - a love that is measureless and unchanging.

Bo and I received this ad for Via Cord - a cord blood banking organization - a couple of weeks ago, and we both loved it.  It says, Protect baby.  That's what mommas do.  Apparently a frying pan can fix anything - even a hungry lion.  What a cute play on the idea of protective mothers!
For your enjoyment, here's a 2 minute news segment about mothers in the animal kingdom.  This shows that motherhood knows no bounds.
